First glimpse of VW Arteon 23 | 02 | 2017

VOLKSWAGEN HAS REVEALED first images of its all-new Arteon, the four-door fastback which will sit above the Passat and is essentially a successor to the Volkswagen Passat CC and the newer CC. (Related: Scots dealer named VW No1 retailer)

Prices are expected to start around £30,000 when it enters Scottish showrooms in the autumn after making its public debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Set to rival the likes of the BMW 4 Series Gran CoupĂ©, the new VW images show the new design of the car’s LED headlights and taillights.

The Arteon is not only broader than the Passat CC, but it displays more distinctive design features, including headlights that feed directly into the grille.

The interior of the car will deliver more space than the Passat, despite sharing much of the internals of the topseller. The Arteon will also be available with VW's Active Info Display digital instrument display as an option.

Expect the car to also have a huge boot, and while the standard cars will be front-wheel drive, it’s also likely four-wheel drive will be available as an option.

VW has yet to confirm power plants, but it’s likely the Arteon will utilise petrol and diesel engines already successful in the current Passat range. However, we do know it will get a new seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The newcomer will also utilise the latest technology, with driver assists and semi-autonomous features included. So expect the likes of automated emergency braking technology and lane keep assist.
