Shown from a front three-quarter angle, the new darkened image — revealed on social media — shows the new Z4 concept’s striking orange paint and bold front end.

What is striking his the Z4 concept’s massive kidney grille and imposing LED daytime running lights. These are further enhanced by unique alloy wheels and divisive cuts in the bodywork.

Based on this image, and the previous teaser, we should expect a targa style folding roof, with a fixed bulkhead.

Set to replace the ageing second-generation model, in production since 2009, the new Z4 Roadster is set to go head-to-head with the likes of the Porsche 718 Boxster.

It’s also likely the mew model will be powered by a range of BMW’s ‘TwinPower’ turbo petrol engines, in both four and six-cylinder forms, with at least 200bhp in entry models. Range-topping turbocharged straight-six versions will be closer to 300bhp. As with previous Z4s, all will be rear-wheel drive.
