Subaru reveals Special Edition Forester 22 | 08 | 2016
SUBARU IS MARKING the 50th anniversary of its Boxer engine with the reveal of the Forester Special Edition, which will go on-sale at Scottish dealerships on September 1 (Scots dealer No1 for Subaru).
Cleverly, the SUV gets Hunter Green Metallic Paint, plus front, side and rear underguards, wheelarch extensions and a stainless steel cargo step panel.
Inside the cabin there’s brown leather seats, accompanied by brown leather upholstery on the doors and around the cabin.
Subaru has upped the ‘tech’ package inside the limited edition Forester with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sat-nav and Hill Descent Control. There’s also Subaru's X-Mode system, which manages the car’s power, torque, brakes and drivetrain to maintain traction on slippery surfaces.
Off-roading capabilities have also been further boosted by 220mm of ground clearance and short overhangs which help negotiate steep approach and departure angles.
Powered by the 145bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine from the XC — a petrol Lineartronic version is also available, but the diesel will dominate sales — it’ll cover the 0-62mph sprint in 10.2secs, emit 148g/km of CO2 and, according to Subaru, return 49.6mpg.
Only 100 models of the Forester Special Edition will be available, with prices starting at £29,995 for the petrol, and £31,495 for the diesel.
According to Subaru, the Special Edition model — which is based on the XC Premium — features an additional £1,500 worth of equipment for no extra cost. Both models come with Subaru’s five year, 100,000-mile warranty.
