Land Rover celebrates 2m Defender 22 | 06 | 2015

LAND ROVER HAS built its two-millionth Defender at its Solihull plant, and the unique 4x4 is set to be auctioned off in December. The car boasts the number plate S90 HUE, which is a homage to the first pre-production Land Rover’s HUE 166 registration plate.

The one-off Defender, which celebrates 67 years of Land Rover production, features a host of special elements including a map of Red Wharf Bay — where the design for the first Land Rover was drawn in the sand — engraved into its front fender.

There's also a ‘no. 2,000,000’ badge at the rear and inside, leather seats with special graphics and badging, plus an aluminium plaque signed by everyone who helped to build the car.

The unique Defender will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, and will be auctioned in December by Bonhams., with all proceeds going to charity.

It's expected a replacement for the current Defender will finally come to market in 2018. Before that, a concept car is planned for next year.
