VW reveals California prices 23 | 07 | 2015
VOLKSWAGEN HAS CONFIRMED the pricing of its all-new California camper van ahead of order books opening on August 3. The entry-level Beach model is priced from £37,657 to £41,515, while Ocean versions start at £47,840 and go up to £54,975.
Based on the new Volkswagen Transporter the new California benefits from a more efficient engine line-up, improved equipment, a new infotainment platform and the option of adaptive suspension for the first time.
Introduced in 1988, the California remains the only factory-produced camper van on the market: more than 100,000 have been sold.
There are two versions of the camper — as before — with the California Beach remaining as the entry-level model with just a basic furniture set that converts into a bed and a pop-up elevating roof.
The higher spec California SE is replaced by the California Ocean, which features a full kitchen, 42-litre fridge and automatic elevating roof.
The new range of new engines, which VW claims deliver 15% better economy, includes the tried-and-tested 2.0TDI. Available in three different outputs, starting at 101bhp, and including 148bhp and 201bhp versions, there's also a four-wheel drive and DSG automatic version available.
Expect prices for the new Audi Q1 to start around £20,000.
