Kia Cee'd GT Line gets new engine 20 | 02 | 2015

KIA WILL DEBUT its new Cee'd GT Line at next month's Geneva Motor Show. The car will be the Korean company's first to feature its new three-cylinder 1.0-litre T-GDI engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

While the GT Line trim will be available in Europe by the end of this year, both the new engine and transmission will be used on future Kia models.

Kia's new GT Line — which features 'ice-cube' LED daytime running lights and deeper bumpers around the grille — can be specified on the Cee'd, Procee'd and Cee'd Sportswagon.

The GT model’s side sill mouldings, rear LED light units and new 17in alloys are fitted to all models. Cee'd hatchback and Procee'd models also get the wider bumper from the GT as well as twin exhausts, while the Sportswagon gets dual exhausts and a rear diffuser.

Inside the GT Line's cabin, the piano black and leather steering and aluminium alloy pedals that come in the GT have also been carried over. There's also a new grey, white and black upholstery with grey stitching.

And in addition to chrome trim around the air vents and electric window switches, the dashboard also houses a new aluminium engine start-stop button.

The all-new 1.0-litre T-GDI three-cylinder engine — which will deliver lower CO2 emissions than the current 1.6-litre GDI engines in other Cee'd models — produces 118bhp.

The new GT Line also gets an upgraded diesel engine, with power increased from 126bhp to 131bhp. Although official CO2 figures are yet to be announced, Kia says they will be lower.

The new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be available on GT Line models fitted with the 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine. Like the new 1.0-litre engine, the DCT will be used on future Kia models.
