Park's opens new Mitsu outlet 02 | 12 | 2014

A NEW Mitsubishi dealership has opened in Lanarkshire as Scotland’s leading independent motor group continues to expand.

Park’s Motor Group has joined forces with Mitsubishi Motors and will run the franchise from a temporary facility until its new purpose-built showroom is completed next to their established dealership in Whifflet Street, Coatbridge.

The move has created a number of jobs, with a new sales team being headed up by sales manager Malcolm Lowe.

“This is a very exciting time for everyone at Park’s and we’re delighted to be joining forces with Mitsubishi Motors," Lowe, who has worked for Park’s for 23 years, said.

“As a company we have more than 40 years’ experience in the industry and we are confident this will be a successful partnership. We aim to offer our Mitsubishi customers unrivalled service and we are excited about the great range of Mitsubishi vehicles on offer.”

Park’s Motor Group is a family owned business, established in 1971 and employs just over 1200 people across the group. The company has 45 outlets representing 20 other brands, with dealerships in Ayrshire, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, West Lothian and Fife.

As well as the vehicle retail side, the group also operates four petrol forecourts, two body repair centres in Hillington and East Kilbride, as well as one of the largest trade parts wholesaling operations in Scotland. Completing the line-up is Park’s of Hamilton, Scotland’s leading luxury coach operators, which cater for both business and leisure travel throughout Britain and Europe.

Park’s will become the 16th new dealership to open this year for the growing brand and it joins Mitsubishi at an exciting time.

Mitsubishi Motors has seen its passenger car year-to-date sales grow by 112%, with October up 306%, according to figures just released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

"We continue to recruit some fantastically high-quality dealers and we are still looking for more," Lance Bradley, managing director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said.

"Park’s have the choice of any manufacturer, so the fact they have chosen to come with us shows these are exciting times for Mitsubishi Motors. We are confident this will prove a successful relationship and we wish the new dealership all the best for the future.”
