Mini unveils new-look Countryman 16 | 04 | 2014

THE REVISED MINI COUNTRYMAN has been unveiled today ahead of its debut at this week's New York Motor Show. The car, which benefits from a subtle new look and improved fuel economy, will enter Scottish Mini showrooms in the summer.

It's clear the rugged four-wheel driver versions of the new Mini benefit most from the styling changes introduced across the new Mini range. Revised front and rear bumpers, a more prominent hexagonal grille, plus flared side sills give an insight into the Countryman's rugged nature.

Power in the Cooper S model has been slightly increased, up from 182bhp to 188bhp, while CO2 emissions are down and economy is improved across the range. All engines now meeting the latest stringent Euro 6 emissions standards.

The Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper D Countryman now come with 16in light alloy wheels in 5-Star ‘Air Spoke’ Design as standard. Likewise, the 17in alloys in the new 5-Star ‘Triangle Spoke’ Design for the Mini Cooper S and Mini Cooper SD Countryman also save weight over their predecessors.

They are also optionally available in a two-colour design. Both wheel versions are also available in an optional Minimilism version, including tyres with reduced rolling resistance for further reductions in fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

Another new addition to the Mini Countryman are LED fog lights with LED daytime driving lights. This distinctive new feature is fitted as standard to Mini Cooper, Mini Cooper D, Mini Cooper S, Mini Cooper SD and Mini John Cooper Works Countryman.

The new LED fog lights provide an intense, bright white light with a much higher level of energy efficiency than conventional lamps. The structure of their light sources in full LED also helps make the front view of the new Mini Countryman striking and instantly recognisable.

The daytime driving light takes the form of a luminous ring fed by 15 LED units. When the parking lights are switched on, only five LED units are activated in the upper third of the ring.
