Seriously? £24,045 for an i-Miev? 06 | 01 | 2011

OK, TIME for a deep breath; the titchy Mitsubishi i-Miev electric vehicle will cost you £24,045 ... and that's AFTER the Government’s £5000 plug-in car grant has been taken off the full price.

Sure the i-Miev is exempt from road tax, is free from the London Congestion Charge and is entitled to free parking in some London boroughs and cities such as Milton Keynes, but really that's of little interest in Scotland. And how many electric recharging points do we have in Scotland? Not many.

Of course, if you really must buy an i-Miev, you can also take advantage of Mitsubishi Finance's balloon personal loan with a deposit of £4635, 47 monthly payments of £399 and then a final payment of £6,459.

You will though be encouraged to hear Mitsubishi says the i-Miev costs approximately £1.05 for a full charge and has “low servicing costs”.

Mitsubishi is also scheduled to confirm the locations of its 10 electric vehicle dealership specialists in the UK on January 10.
