Grieve new vice-president at SMTA 06 | 01 | 2011

THE SCOTTISH Motor Trade Association has confirmed Ian Grieve, managing director of Subaru and Isuzu dealership Ian Grieve (Falkirk), as its new vice president. Grieve, who joined the association in 2009, will stand for election as president in June.

The 64-year-old has spent his working life in the motor trade, joining SMT Sales & Service from school and remained there and with its successors Lex Service until 1991 when he acquired the Stirling-based Vauxhall dealership from Lex.

In 1999 he acquired Devonvale Vauxhall in Alloa, followed by the Falkirk site in 2005. The two Vauxhall dealerships were sold to Arnold Clark in 2007.

“The motor industry in Scotland faces many challenges in the coming years," Grieve said. "But as a significant employer, as well as a major contributor to the wealth of our nation, it is imperative the board seeks to maintain the Scottish Motor Trade Association at the forefront of the industry in Scotland and I intend to play my part in ensuring that is the case. “
