New C-Class coupe from Mercedes 11 | 02 | 2011

THIS IS THE first sight of Mercedes' new C-class coupe. Due to be unveiled in Geneva next month, the sleek coupe will will go head to head with the Audi A5 and BMW 3-series; it's scheduled to enter Mercedes' Scottish dealership network in the summer.

The stunning new coupe will replace both the CLK and CLC and sit below the E-class coupe in Mercedes’ range. Sharing a platform with the revised saloon and estate C-class models, the new coupe also mirrors their front-end styling.

The major redesign though is from the A-pillars back. Here the long flowing roofline and a shoulder line flow upwards giving the car a sleek and slippery profile.

The new cabin mirrors much of the rest of the C-Class range including updated switchgear and higher-quality trim materials, a newly designed steering wheel, and a new, angular instrument binnacle mirroring used in the larger E-class.

Understandably, it's expected the engine selection will be shared with the rest of the range, which means it will retain the pre-facelift's four-cylinder petrol and diesel units and also get a new 3.5-litre V6 direct injection petrol engine. Don't be surprised to see a C63 AMG model make an appearance next year.
