Citroen Lacoste to go on sale 29 | 09 | 2010

A WEEK AFTER Scotcars showed you the first photo of Citroen’s radical Lacoste car, the French manufacturer has confirmed the model, which will be shown for the first time at the Paris Motor Show this week, will go into production in three years. But while many of the concept's elements will make it to the road-going version, it won't be a soft-top.

The Lacoste will be based on the shortened and widened Mitsubishi i platform which PSA Peugeot Citroën is also using for its Citroën C-Zero and Peugeot iOn electric cars.

It's expected the tie-in between PSA and Mitsubishi will continue to prosper with electric cars and hybrids being the No1 area of expansion, though engine-sharing will also be high on the agenda. The platform sharing will also continue with both Peugeot and Citroen planning a smaller SUV based on the Mitsubishi ASX in 2012.
