Hot Ford concept to be focus in Paris  25 | 08 | 2010

THOUGH FORD hasn't released any images of the newcomer, the Blue Oval badged giant has confirmed it will launch an "exciting performance model" of its new Focus at the Paris Motor Show next month. The news comes hot on the heels of last week's confirmation that the 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine used in the current ST and RS models would be discontinued simply because it would no longer comply with forthcoming Euro 5 emissions regualtions.

As a result, the concept of the new performance model — which essentially will be a strong steer as to the design of the forthcoming front-drive Ford Focus ST — is also likely to confirm that it will be powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing around 250bhp.

For some time Ford has spoken of the “global performance model” of the new Focus (pictured above) and the company's Derrick Kuzak confirmed the car would get the firm’s new EcoBoost technology. He also promised it would be “exciting to drive and great to look at”.

The unveiling of the new performance model in Paris will coincide with the launch of the new Focus five-door hatchback and estate models which will enter showrooms across Scotland in March, just in time for the new '11'-reg plates.
