McLaren F1 hints at orange liveryposted in F120 | 02 | 2018

McLAREN HAS GIVEN F1 fans the biggest hint that its 2018 race car will carry a more traditional orange livery for the new season, thanks to a new teaser video. (Related: Red Bull F1 unveils 2018 RB14)

Investigating a disturbance, McLaren’s fictional night security guard enters the team's Woking factory and finds many of the team’s most famous papaya-liveried cars — including the F1 M7A, M16 IndyCar and Can-Am M8D —congregated on McLaren Technology Centre's concourse. The final shot shows the security guard glancing over his shoulder at the new MCL33. Not only is the car fitted with the halo cockpit protection device, compulsory for the new season, but the car’s engine cover is predominantly orange.

Last year McLaren ran an orange-dominated car for Fernando Alonso in the Indianapolis 500. The Spaniard has previously indicated he would like to see the colour scheme replicated for his F1 car.

McLaren will unveil its 2018 race car on February 23.
