Red Bull unveils 2017 RB13posted in F126 | 02 | 2017

THIS IS OUR first glimpse of the 2017 Red Bull RB13, launched less than 24 hours before the car starts the first official Formula 1 test at Barcelona tomorrow.

The new rules for this season focus much of the attention on aerodynamics — an area dominated in the past by the excellence of Red Bull’s Adrian Newey-led design team — and as a result the Milton Keynes-based team is widely tipped for a return to championship contention in 2017.

Last season the team — with drivers Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo  — won two races, and much is expected through 2017 as engine supplier Renault has pledged further improvements.

And Ricciardo believes the regulations overhaul has already achieved one aim by making F1 cars look more imposing.

“The new RB13 looks quite beautiful," the ever-popular Aussie said. “It definitely looks sleek. They look like the fastest cars in the world. That was the impression I got."

It was a vow echoed by team-mate Verstappen.

"The car looks very aggressive," the Dutchman said. "Hopefully when it looks that aggressive it will be fast, but we still have to wait and see."
